A New Chapter in China-Africa Cooperation--HollySys Contributes to South Africa's Railway Upgrade

The 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, held successfully in Beijing, highlighted the deep friendship and promising cooperation prospects between China and Africa, injecting new momentum into pragmatic collaborations across various fields. As a world leading provider for Rail Signalling solutions and services in China, HollySys' expertise and achievements in the South African railway upgrade project exemplified the high-quality of China-Africa cooperation in infrastructure development.

In 2023, HollySys secured the contract for upgrading the PTCS (PRASA Train Control System) of the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) metropolitan commuter rail network, which included 64 stations with 130 km. HollySys will provide PRASA with its self-developed European Train Control System (ETCS) Level-2 train control system with an underlying signalling system, including the design, supply, construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of the PTCS system.

Currently the project has completed the overall design phase and is now conducting product testing and verification. The implementation is being carried out in an orderly manner. To ensure the project's successful implementation, HollySys has established a KZN testing and verification lab for full-function and real external interface testing, as well as technical training. This integrated software and hardware facility provides essential technical support and a favorable testing environment for the project's safe and efficient operation.

HollySys will actively participate in the development and technological upgrading of Africa’s railway network, and contribute more wisdom and strength to promoting cooperation for China-Africa railway intelligence development.
