Recently, HollySys' PLC & Drive Integrated Control Solution was successfully deployed in the Yiwu Geely Welding Island Project in China, marking a new milestone in automotive manufacturing automation. Applied in stamping and welding processes, the solution delivers outstanding stability, precision, and reliability in high-speed and high-precision production environments, providing a comprehensive automation architecture covering controllers, communication networks, and execution units.

In automotive manufacturing, the welding process places the highest demands on control systems in terms of real-time performance, positioning accuracy, and long-term operational stability. Modern welding lines require the coordinated operation of multiple robots and equipment, where even minor communication fluctuations or positioning deviations can impact production efficiency and product quality. For Geely's Yiwu manufacturing base, the technology upgrade required a solution capable of ensuring production continuity and reliability while meeting the standards of world-class automotive manufacturing.
To address these challenges, HollySys delivered a PLC & Drive Integrated Control Solution featuring its large-scale PLC, proprietary PL-LINK real-time industrial Ethernet bus, and HGE586 high-performance vector drive.
1) HollySys Large-Scale PLC, Ensuring Reliable Control for High-Performance Welding Operations
At the core control layer, HollySys' large-scale PLC provides powerful processing capabilities to support complex logic control and high-speed data processing requirements in welding production lines. Designed for industrial-grade applications, the PLC supports full-path redundancy across power supply, CPU, Ethernet, and communication networks, enabling seamless switching in the event of module failures and ensuring continuous production operation. Its hot-swappable I/O modules, anti-misplug design, conformal coating protection, and wide operating temperature range enable reliable operation in demanding industrial environments. In addition, the product has passed Achilles Level 2 cybersecurity testing, providing enhanced protection for critical manufacturing systems.
2) HollySys PL-LINK Real-Time Ethernet Bus, Enabling Seamless Equipment Collaboration
For equipment coordination, HollySys' independently developed PL-LINK real-time Ethernet bus ensures efficient and stable communication across the production line. Supporting ring network redundancy and up to 128 slave nodes on a single network, PL-LINK enables high-speed data exchange and reliable device collaboration. Combined with HollySys' proprietary protocol conversion gateways, the solution also supports seamless integration with third-party equipment, creating an open and flexible automation ecosystem.
3) HollySys HGE586 Vector Drive, Delivering Precise Motion Performance for Welding Applications
To improve welding quality and positioning accuracy, HollySys integrated the HGE586 high-performance vector drive into the solution. Powered by closed-loop vector control technology, the drive delivers precise motion control for welding line slides, maintaining stable positioning performance under both heavy-load movement and high-speed return conditions, providing a reliable foundation for robotic welding operations.
4) HollySys Software Architecture, Simplifying System Integration & Lifecycle Management
Beyond hardware performance, HollySys also optimized software compatibility with the customer's existing process standards. Through a modular and function-oriented software architecture, the solution enables seamless integration with existing production systems, reducing engineering complexity, lowering maintenance costs, and facilitating efficient operation and commissioning.
