Overview
Wind turbine blades operating in cold regions during winter often encounter icy and snowy weather, which can lead to ice formation on the blade surfaces. This significantly impacts the normal operation and power generation efficiency of the wind turbines. The client's existing de-icing system is unstable due to the harsh working environment, frequently experiences data packet loss, and also incurs high costs.
Solutions
HollySys has provided a custom blade de-icing system for its customers, featuring an advanced design concept with one main module and three remote I/O modules. This design incorporates the broad-temperature design and the Industry EMC Level 4 characteristics of HollySys products, ensuring stable operation in various harsh environments such as high and low temperatures, humidity, and dryness. Compared to the client's existing system, our system is more streamlined, enhancing system efficiency and reducing maintenance costs for the client, while addressing issues such as system instability.
Results
During the system validation process in the icing period, the HollySys de-icing system demonstrated exceptional stability. The significant reduction in ice coverage on the blades allowed the wind turbine units to operate normally, thereby delivering substantial economic benefits to the client and earning unanimous praise.
