Overview
The Western section of the West-to-East Gas Pipeline (referred to as "West Line"), managed by Western Pipeline Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the PipeChina Group, includes 13 compression stations. To address the issue of the Station Control System (SCS) exceeding its service life and to enhance the remote control capabilities of oil and gas pipeline facilities, and transition from decentralized dispatching to centralized control, from centralized control to comprehensive remote control, and ultimately to intelligent control, the upgrade and renovation was initiated. The 13 compression stations have nearly 20,000 physical I/O points.
Solutions
The main upgrades included replacement and software/hardware configuration debugging of the SCS upper computer, replacement and debugging of the SCS itself, restoration of the SCS network architecture with redundancy, addition of network security features, integration of the compressor unit control system with the SCS, and software configuration debugging for the control center, sub-control center, and operational areas.
HollySys provided an integrated SCS solution, including a dual-machine hot standby redundant system - LK control system (BPCS), a dual-machine hot standby redundant safety instrumented system - LKS (SIL2) control system (SIS), and the integration of BPCS, SIS, and PCS systems, as well as communication integration.
Results
This project marked the first application of such a complex station (compression station) in natural gas long-distance pipelines and sets a precedent for simultaneous application across multiple stations (13 compression stations). The successful implementation of features such as "one-key start-stop" showcased HollySys' advanced technological capabilities and the safety and reliability of its products, ensuring safe production for clients.
