Evaluation Conference on "Edge Computing-Based Smart Tunnel Digital Twin Control Platform Key Technology Research and Application Project" Concluded

On September 6, 2022, the evaluation conference on scientific and technological achievements in the "Edge Computing-Based Smart Tunnel Digital Twin Control Platform Key Technology Research and Application Project", organized by China Communications and Transportation Association, was held successfully in Beijing Railway Mansion. The Evaluation Committee consisted of 7 experts, including Li Zuomin, former Director of the Highway Monitoring & Response Center, Ministry of Transport of the PRC; and Li Gang, former Director of the Policy Research Office, Ministry of Transport of the PRC. The conference was attended by Jin Mao, and Zhang Leilei, Director and Senior Engineer, respectively of the Science and Technology Department of China Communications and Transportation Association; and Zhao Bolun, Director of the New Technology Promotion Branch of China Communications and Transportation Association. Li Zuomin, Head of the Evaluation Committee, presided over the conference.

Other leading officials and members of the project team also in attendance included Hao Juming, Deputy General Manager of Gansu Province Highway Traffic Construction Group Co., Ltd.; Liu Xu, Deputy Director of the Network Settlement Service Department of the Highway Monitoring & Response Center, Ministry of Transport of the PRC; Sheng Gang, Deputy General Manager and Chief Engineer of Jiaoke Transport Consultants Ltd.; Xu Xiaojin, General Manager of the Electromechanical Management Center of Sinohydro Bureau 14 Co., Ltd.; Liu Yuhuan, Vice President of Beijing HollySys Co., Ltd.; and Wang Renzhe, Deputy General Manager of Xi’an HollySys Co., Ltd.

The Evaluation Committee experts listened to HollySys’s report on the "Edge Computing-Based Smart Tunnel Digital Twin Control Platform Key Technology Research and Application Project", carefully audited relevant technical data, and conducted a detailed professional inquiry and review.

Based upon the Evaluation Committee’s inquiries and discussion, the experts agreed that the "Edge Computing-Based Smart Tunnel Digital Twin Control Platform Key Technology Research and Application Project" had reached an international advanced level. Within this, two areas—virtualized inter-core high-speed communication for memory sharing and intelligent diagnosis technology for fans in highway tunnels —had reached an international leading level.

The edge intelligent controller (EIC) and edge computing-based smart tunnel integrated control platforms developed by HollySys have been successfully applied in projects such as the Sichuan Longchi Tunnel, Shanxi’s Lvliang Xuegongling Tunnel, and Zhejiang’s Jinhua Tunnel, to good economic and social benefit, safeguarding the operation of these highway tunnels.

In future, HollySys continue to leverage its technical strengths, emphasizing the construction of edge computing-based smart tunnel management and control platforms, with the aim of "tearing down data barriers between tunnel systems, improving their level of operational safety, traffic efficiency, and energy efficiency". We will adhere to the principles of "Independent Controllability, Security and Trust" to make our continuing contribution to the safe operation of highway tunnels.
