On September 20, 2022 (CET), the 13th International Trade Fair for Transport Technology (InnoTrans 2022) was inaugurated at Messe Berlin, Germany. HollySys returned to the InnoTrans event this year, following its participation in 2018, to showcase the achievements it has made in high-speed rail and urban rail transit in recent years to international exhibitors and visitors, and to discuss technological innovation and development with global industry peers.

Known as the "Olympic Games" in the field of rail transit, InnoTrans is recognized as the most important and comprehensive platform for exhibiting global achievements in the railway and rail transit industry. This event attracts industry players who wish to showcase their latest research results and cutting-edge technical concepts. HollySys's advanced products and technologies on display, include the automatic train operation system for high-speed railways, train control system for high-speed railways, edge cloud composite (ECC) based intelligent control cloud node, as well as signal system solution dedicated to metros.

Automatic train operation system for high-speed railways (HSR ATO)

Dedicated to rail transit automation for more than 20 years, and from its early days as a startup, HollySys has now established itself as a builder and contributor in the field of the operational control system (OCS) for trains running on the trunk railways and integrated supervisory control system (ISCS) for urban rail transit. More than 2,800 sets of its onboard ATP systems are equipped on Fuxing trains of various models and CRH EMUs running on high-speed railways throughout China, enabling the company to capture almost half of the domestic market (data as of the end of 2021). The HSR ATO exhibited at the event serves as a testament to the technological achievements delivered by this builder and contributor.

Representing one of the significant trends for the future development of rail transit, the HSR ATO functions as a crucial component of the intelligent train control system. On the basis of the HSR train control system, HollySys's HSR ATO is composed of an onboard ATO unit and trackside balises for precise parking to realize automatic train operation. By contributing towards improving train punctuality, riding comfort, and train operation efficiency, and decreasing both driver's labor intensity and locomotive traction energy consumption indicators, while improving transportation turnover and ensuring passengers' safety during boarding and alighting, it fully satisfies the intelligent operation requirements of high-speed railways with an operating speed up to 350km/h.

Edge cloud composite (ECC) based intelligent control cloud node

In the field of urban rail transit, HollySys owns solutions and products including the integrated supervisory control system (ISCS), signaling system, and train integration automatic system (TIAS), which are widely used in 58 metro lines of 16 cities across China. In the context of the rapid development of urban rail transit towards digitalization and intelligence, HollySys has built a "cloud-edge-end" collaborative smart architecture for urban rail transit to realize centralized cloud management and control while enabling decentralized edge autonomy, and to create an intelligent sharing ecology for partners.

The ECC based intelligent control cloud node is used to build synthetic carrying capacities, enabling intelligent control, on-site access, and edge computing. This technology has been successfully piloted at Taipingqiao Station of Beijing Subway Line 19. Relying on the ECC technology, this station was built with multiple functions such as the intelligent electromechanical management platform iBAS, equipment monitoring integrating the conventional BAS, air-water linkage energy-saving control, and intelligent diagnosis for electromechanical equipment including platform screen doors and batteries. All these functions are incorporated into a unified control network allowing unified access to traditional production control data and high-frequency operation and maintenance data. The use of ECC technology allows for the replacement of multiple sets of conventional hardware, such as controllers and diagnostic devices, resulting in increased synthetic carrying capacities, as well as space savings in machines and reduced construction cost and O&M expenses.

Signaling system solution for metros

HollySys also showcased the signaling system solutions for urban rail transit at this exhibition, including the communication-based train control (CBTC) solution, fully automatic operation (FAO) solution, and positive train control (PTC) solution.

The CBTC solution utilizes wireless communication to acquire autonomous positioning information and enable movement authority based on a moving block system. This technology ensures the safe operation of all trains in the system, allowing for driverless train operation based on ATO. HollySys has successfully applied this solution to Kunming Metro Line 6. The fully automatic operation solution is a major part of rail transit automation with the signaling system as its core, which comprises various components such as a vehicle system, integrated supervisory control system, communication system, electromechanical system, and power supply system, to realize the automatic operation of rail transit lines typically featuring driverless train operation. This fully automatic operation solution, more reliable, efficient, and intelligent compared with the traditional signal systems, has been successfully applied to Beijing Subway Line 17. The train-centered PTC solution features a simplified system architecture and trackside equipment, thanks to an innovative train operation control concept that enables on-demand utilization of trackside resources and autonomous train operation. This technology provides clients with higher transportation efficiency and more flexible operation capability while incurring lesser costs.

HollySys's appearance in InnoTrans demonstrates the company's strength and determination to enhance its global presence while showcasing its technological advancements and product outcomes.
